Taiwan’s state regulator of nuclear power said Friday that it has approved a proposal by the builder of the island’s problem-plagued fourth nuclear power plant to suspend construction of the facility in accordance with a government order.
Officials of the Atomic Energy Council told Kyodo News that the approval was given Thursday to state-owned Taiwan Power Co. for freezing construction of the two reactors of the plant located in New Taipei City on the northeastern coast of Taiwan.
