Elevated levels of radioactive strontium, which can cause cancer, have been found 250 kilometres from the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant.

The find in the city of Yokohama has heightened fears that radiation has spread further than the Japanese government has acknowledged.

With a half-life of 29 years, strontium-90 accumulates in bones and can cause leukaemia and other types of cancer.

    This kinds of news have been delivered time by time, or intermittently.
    We, common people in Japan, are not given its precise implication on our health, especially that for children and pregnant women.
    A big problem is that government, central and local, will not start systematically and consective measurements, publication(broadcast), and therefore necessary actions when above-standard radioactivity was detected, as if they believe no-news(by measurements) is felt good news. Worse or better, the result will appear 4, or 5 years later.
