The government said Saturday it will seek to fully dispose of soil and other waste contaminated with radioactive substances emitted by the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant within 30 years from the time they are stored at a facility in Fukushima Prefecture.
The government is expected to step up efforts to designate a location inside the prefecture for the facility, but due to safety concerns will face stiff opposition from residents who would have to live near the site.
