細野豪志原発事故担当相は7月29日に福島市で行われた「第3回毎日新聞・震災フォーラム」に合わせ毎日新聞のインタビューに応じ、「原子力(発電所)の稼働率を低くするということは化石燃料(石油、石炭、天然ガス)に頼ること。そのリスクは高い」と述べ、安全評価(ストレステスト)の結果、安全性が確認できれば原発の再稼働を認めるべきだとの考えを示した。 続きは 細野原発事故相:原発の再稼働容認の考え示す

菅直人首相は8日の衆院予算委員会で高速増殖原型炉もんじゅ(福井県敦賀市)について「原発に依存しないでもやっていける社会を目指す。この中には使用済み燃料の再処理、もんじゅも含まれる。この方向性を計画的、段階的に目指していくことが必要だ」と述べ、今後の核燃料サイクルなど原子力政策全体を見直す中で、もんじゅの廃炉を含め幅広く検討する必要があるとの認識を示した。社民党の服部良一氏への答弁。 首相は、使用済み核燃料や高レベル放射性廃棄物の処理について「長期に安定的に管理し、後世に悪影響を残さないで済むかが極めて深刻な問題、原子力の持っている本質的な問題点だと認識している」と強調した。 日米両国などがモンゴルに使用済み核燃料の中間貯蔵・最終処分施設を建設する極秘計画については「我が国で発生した使用済み燃料や高レベル放射性廃棄物を外国で貯蔵、処分することは現時点では考えていない」と述べた。【西田進一郎】 菅首相:「もんじゅ」廃炉を含め幅広く検討の必要と答弁
