福島第一原発 廃液漏れで危険作業増 貯蔵容器で水素ガス発生 via 東京新聞
「。。。」福島第一では、今も原子炉を常に冷やすため大量の高濃度汚染水が発生する。液体で貯蔵するのはリスクが高い。このため特殊な薬剤を混ぜて放射性物質を付着させ、泥状の廃液にし、強固な容器(直径一・五メートル、高さ一・八メートル)に閉じ込める。 ところが昨年四月、一部の容器の上部や周辺の床にたまった水が見つかり、他の容器をチェックしたところ、計三十四基で水があふれているのが見つかった。 東電が原因を調べたところ、高濃度の放射性物質を含んだ汚泥が容器内に沈殿し、水と反応して水素ガスが発生。汚泥が膨張して上澄み水を押し上げ、上部のガス抜き穴からあふれたことが判明した。ガスが発生することは分かっていたが、水があふれる事態は想定外だったという。 この容器は現在、約一千七百基まで増えている。遮蔽(しゃへい)用のコンクリート製の箱に収納しているため、漏えいはただちに外部に影響があるわけではない。 しかし、いずれの容器からも水があふれる恐れがあるため、現場では完全防護の態勢で毎日の点検のほか、容器ごとにガスの発生量を予測し、漏れが起きる可能性が高いものから順次、手作業でホースを使った水抜きを進めている。 ただ、この水は放射性物質の濃度が高く、作業には危険が伴う。放射性セシウムが一リットル当たり約一万ベクレル、放射性ストロンチウムが約三〇〇〇万ベクレルと、近づくだけで被ばくする恐れのある濃度だ。 さらにやっかいなのは、このうちの約千基が箱内で、三段積みにして収納されている点だ。容器を一つ一つクレーンで動かし、チェックして水を抜き、別の容器を移動させて再び収納する、と気の遠くなるような作業を続けることが必要になっている。 東電の担当者は「どれをどこに動かすかなどパズル状態。被ばくを最小限に抑えながら、慎重にやっていきたい」と説明している。本来の目標である廃炉に向けたマンパワーを、余計な作業に割かざるを得ない状況だ。 <福島第一原発の汚染水処理> 事故で原子炉内に溶け落ちた核燃料を冷やすためには大量の水が必要。冷却後、発生した高濃度汚染水は、放射性セシウムの大半とストロンチウムの一部を除去し、さらに別の装置で塩分などを取り除く。淡水になった分は再び炉の冷却に使い、塩分を含む水は再度除染しタンクに保管する。この処理過程で出た汚泥状の廃液を貯蔵容器にため敷地内に保管している。 もっと読む。
