[Children in Fukushima can no longer play in nature because of the radiation. For nature cannot be decontaminated. This is only one story of 36,000 children, who remain at home and dream of their freedom in nature and experience the reality.]

This moving work provokes us to think about what it does not address: the increasingly dominant reality in which community members–parents, teachers, children–are actively discouraged from worrying and from taking precautions against radiation exposure. A grotesque incarnation of the “safety myth” is thriving post-Fukushima.
