Pittsylvania Co., VA – In a special meeting Wednesday, the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors took a firm stance on uranium mining.
Board members have visited the issue several times in past months. But in a 5 to 1 vote, they passed a resolution opposing legislation seeking to end the ban on mining.
After listening to the concerns of county residents, most of them agreed that this was the right decision. The resolution was amended and accepted, stating that the supervisors oppose uranium mining and would not be in favor of any legislation put forward to lift the moratorium.
