ABINGDON, Va. — “The Forgotten Women and Children of Fukushima,” a presentation by biologist Mary Olson, will be held March 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Abingdon.

As a reminder of the radiological danger, the Appalachian Peace Education Center will bring Olson to the area to speak about her field of expertise on the disproportionate impact of radiation exposure on women and girl.
Olson serves as the acting director of the Gender and Radiation Impact Project and is director of the southeast office of the Nuclear Information and Resource Service.
Refreshments will be served at the event, which is free and open to the public, according to APEC.
