国際原子力機関(IAEA)は中南米などで流行する感染症「ジカ熱」の対策として、原因のウイルスを運ぶ蚊の繁殖を放射線で抑える技術を、関係国に指導していく方針を明らかにした。 […] そこでIAEAは、人間の血を吸わないオスの蚊を放射線で不妊化させる技術を各国に提供。この蚊を大量に野に放てば卵が孵化ふかできなくなり、蚊の数を減らす効果が期待できるという。IAEAは「放射線による不妊化は、人間に安全で環境に優しい技術だ」と説明している。 もっと読む。
