竹田恒和JOC会長の潔白会見はわずか7分「逃げ恥」作戦に記者から怒りの声噴出 via Aera.dot
これぞ「逃げるは恥だが、役に立つ」ということか。 […] ところが、30分の予定で開かれた会見はわずか7分で終了。内容も、冒頭から竹田会長が「いかなる意志決定プロセスにも関与していません」などと、疑惑が持ち上がっているシンガポールのコンサルタント会社との契約に関わっていないことが書かれた文書を読み上げたのみ。質疑応答に答えることもなく会場から“トンズラ”した。 これに納得いかないのが、100人以上集まっていた報道関係者だ。そもそも、記者会見を設定したのはJOCの側。竹田氏も会見で「自らの潔白を証明すべく、全力を尽くす」と言ったにもかかわらず、あっさりと退場してしまったことに、報道陣から非難ゴウゴウ。 「これだけ人を集めておいて失礼だ」 「おかしいんじゃないの」 「都合の悪いことはしゃべらないのか」 怒りの声が次々に飛んだ。 JOCの担当者によると、質疑応答を拒否して“トンズラ作戦”を取ることを決定したのは、今日15日午前2時ごろ。 「慎重に検討した結果、現在お伝えできることを口頭でお伝えするのみということが適切な判断と至った。よって、本日の質疑応答は差し控えさせていただいた」という。 ただ、口頭で文書を読み上げるだけなら、JOCのホームページなどで発表すればいいだけのこと。それがなぜ、竹田会長がわざわざ文書を読み上げる形式にしたのか。これについてJOCの担当者は「いま、調査中なのでそこに触れると誤解を招くといけない」と説明。事前に説明がなかったことについては、「会見をご案内させていただいた時は質疑応答について検討していたが、その後に検討した結果、質疑応答はなくしました」(同)と話した。 杓子定規の説明に、記者からは「これは記者会見じゃなくて、アピールでしょ」といった嘆きの声も。また、会場にはロイターなど海外メディアの記者も参加していた。日産自動車のカルロス・ゴーン前会長の逮捕を巡る騒動で、東京地検特捜部が逮捕容疑についてちゃんとした説明をしないことから世界中で日本の司法制度に批判の目が集まっているなか、またもや「不思議な国・ニッポン」を印象付けた形になった。 […] 全文
