なんで今ごろ?と感じた人は多かっただろう。この6月に日本原子力研究開発機構(JAEA)が公表した 原発事故初期の放射性ヨウ素131の汚染マップだ。よく知られている北西方向の汚染に加え、福島第1原発の南側にも広がっていた。実測に基づくヨウ素の汚 染分布地図が示されたのは初めてだ。 (略) 先月、原発事故で放出された放射性ヨウ素をテーマとするシンポジウムが東京都内で開かれた。拡散シミュレーションを続けるJAEAの茅野政道さんが示したのは、鳥居さんらのデータや福島県のモニタリングポストのデータなどを追加した新たな解析結果だ。 たとえば、2011年3月15日午後の大量放出は、これまでより遅い午後5時ごろから翌日午前1時ごろ と推定された。1号機のベントや水素爆発、2号機からの放出と、各地の沈着とを結びつけることもできた。「ようやくデータが出そろって、どこに、何時に、 どれぐらいの量が沈着したかがより正確にわかるようになった」と茅野さんは言う。 東京大大気海洋研究所の鶴田治雄さんのチームは、関東地方にある国や自治体の研究機関などが独立に測定した放射性物質の大気中濃度のデータを集め、分析した結果を公表した。 ヨウ素131とセシウム137の比率をみると、3月の大量放出の時は、それ以外の時よりヨウ素の割合が小さかった。別の機関が実施した原子炉内の放射性核種の推計とつきあわせ、「この時は炉内の放射性物質が水を通さずに放出されたのではないか」と見る。 文科省などが福島県や茨城県東海村で採取したダストデータからは、3月21日の午前中と午後とで、ヨウ素・セシウム比が大きく異なることもわかった。「原子炉からの放出の状態が変化したと考えられるが、何が起きたのか、分析されていない」と指摘する。 全文は3・11後のサイエンス:ヨウ素放出を掘り起こす=青野由利
