Fukushima, June 24 (Jiji Press)–Municipalities in Fukushima Prefecture, home to Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s stricken Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant, are increasingly calling for a second round of decontamination work as radiation levels remain above the Japanese government’s target in some places.
Decontamination work has already been carried out in many residential areas in the northeastern Japan prefecture, but radiation levels in some cases have not dropped to an annual radiation dose of one millisievert or below, the long-term goal set by the government.
