The underground fire at the Bridgeton Sanitary Landfill has been smoldering for two-and-a-half years and is slowly creeping toward the nuclear site.
Workers have made progress cutting off the oxygen supply to the fire.
The fire was said to be about 1,000 feet from the nuclear site and a court-approved plan to put out the fire was said to be “making progress.”
