Dear friends and colleagues, for our second meeting of Persian Circle this quarter, we are very excited to host Dr. Saeed Yousef (Senior Lecturer of Persian, University of Chicago), who will be giving a talk in Persian entitled:

The Uneven Development of Modernity in Persian Poetry

Saeed Yousef is a poet, literary critic, translator, journalist, and Senior Lecturer of Persian Language and Literature at the University of Chicago. He has published ten books of poetry, including, most recently, Paarsi-Gu-ye Degar-Khu, Va Man dar Chashm-e Khargusham, Az Bute-ye Butighaa, and Az Talkhi-ye Chaai taa Bekaaham; several books of literary criticism, including Poetics and Politics – East and West: The Poetries of Ahmad Shaamlu and Bertolt Brecht; translations, including a verse translation of Brecht’s poetry into Persian; in addition to several books for the teaching of the Persian language.
