Dear friends and colleagues, please join us this Thursday for Persian Circle. Rhyne King (PhD Candidate in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, University of Chicago) will be giving a talk in English entitled:

“Loci of Power in the Achaemenid Persian Empire: Beyond the City.” Thursday 18th April, 5-6.30pm, Pick Hall 218(5828 S. University Ave, Chicago, IL 60637)

Rhyne King is a PhD Candidate in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago. He majored in Classics and Linguistics at Duke University before beginning his studies at the University of Chicago. His main research interests are the social, economic, and political history of the Achaemenid Persian Empire (c. 550-330 BCE). His dissertation is tentatively titled “The House of the Satrap and the Governance of the Achaemenid Persian Empire.”
