“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

This weekend, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel presents Bach’s beloved masterpiece, St. Matthew Passion, or for you Bach enthusiasts, BWV 244. It sets chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew (in the German translation of Martin Luther) to music. It is known for as one of the greatest masterpieces of classical music. The structure of the piece is divided up into two parts, and is filled with a variety of arias and chorales.

Soloist include award-winning Matthew Anderson as the Evangelist; Andrew Schultz, bass; Hyun Suk Jang, soprano; Christine Buras, soprano; Lon Ellenberger, alto; Matthew Dean, tenor; and Mark Winston, bass; along with the Rockefeller Chapel Choir and Orchestra, and University of Chicago Motet Choir.

Performance is Sunday, April 1st at 3 pm, doors at 2 pm.

Tickets are $25 general admission and $5 student.
