Dear Music Lovers:
I hope that you will join us this coming weekend as the 250+ musicians of the University Symphony Orchestra, University Chorus, Motet Choir, and Rockefeller Chapel Choir present a splendorous program of French masterpieces, including:
Debussy’s Fêtes from Trois Nocturnes, Debussy’s La mer, and Poulenc’s Gloria, with soprano soloist Patrice Michaels
Also on the program is Augusta Read Thomas’ beautiful short essay for string orchestra, a “soulful work of reflection” entitled Of Paradise and Light.
Two performances are planned: on Saturday evening, May 26, at 8 pm, and on Sunday afternoon, May 27, at 3 pm, both in Mandel Hall. Admission is free, with donations requested at the door.
James Kallembach and I will share the podium for these celebratory concerts. Please join us! The music is exquisitely beautiful, and marvelously evocative. I am sure you will enjoy it.
Sincerely,
— Barbara Schubert
