German Music at Rockefeller Chapel

The Early Music Ensemble is coached by David Douglass and Ellen Hargis as part of the Newberry Consort’s Ensemble-in-Residence program in the Department of Music.  The group explores repertoires from the 12th– through the 17th-centuries, using voices, strings and winds and keyboards.

Im Maien: a Spring Bouquet of German Music will feature the music of Isaac, Senfl, Stolzer, Praetorius, Schütz, and others, for vocal ensemble and recorders, crumhorns, viols, cornetto, kortholt, lute, and harpsichord. Never heard of some of those Renaissance instruments? Neither have we. Can’t wait to see them up close!
