Frank Wen, Co-Winner of the 2010 Concerto Competition, raises the bar for University of Chicago students. The College sophomore and biology major runs cross country and track and field, stays busy with lab work and school work, and will dazzle audiences tonight with the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto accompanied by the acclaimed University Symphony Orchestra. Tonight’s concert marks Frank’s debut as a soloist. USO Conductor and Director of Performance Programs, Barbara Schubert exclaims, “It is a performance that you won’t want to miss!”
The concert also features Berlioz’s exuberant Overture to Le Corsaire and Vaughan Williams’ hauntingly beautiful A London Symphony – one of the composer’s most engaging works.
A reception in Hutchinson Commons will follow the concert.
