It is with immense sadness that I write to tell you that Fritz died suddenly in his sleep Wednesday night, February 27, 2013. The coroner said the cause was a massive heart blockage. He leaves a great legacy of work from a lifetime of devotion to archaeology. His friends and family, colleagues–everyone who knew him will feel the loss, and especially the Isthmia and Stobi excavations to which he gave so much of his time, energy and his creative spirit. He was the Associate director and architect for the University of Chicago Excavations at Isthmia from 1986. His work can be seen in all plans and reconstructions on this web site. He leaves virtually complete his important book on the Archaic Temple of Poseidon. He will be sorely missed by everyone.
