I am a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and a first-year PhD student in Library and Information Science studying human-notation interaction. In considering notation traditions as cognitive tools, I strive to conceptualize generative visualization systems to aid music cognition.

Motivated by the inherent difficulties of existing music notation systems which require one's knowledge of established traditions to reveal implicit and explicit meanings, and the hundreds of inadequate attempts to improve these systems using only numbers, letters, and somewhat arbitrary stenographic symbols, I look to the potential of evolving display technologies and sophisticated interactivity to enable multidimensional representations of the auditory arts.
