Workshop: “Moving Across Global Soundscapes: the Permutations of a Public Ethnomusicologist”
Amie Maciszewski will explore her ever-changing and often overlapping roles as public ethnomusicologist, Hindustani music performer, ensemble director, teaching artist, and documentary filmmaker. These are enactments of her vision to create and inhabit spaces where the performing, visual, and media arts, learning, and human rights not only coexist but weave together like narratives of the same story. She will present selected examples of her work in these various threads/spheres.
The workshop is hosted by EthNoise!, The University of Chicago’s
graduate research workshop in ethnomusicology.
