South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI) Announces the Summer 2008 Schedule

Languages: SASLI offers thirteen South Asian languages in eight weeks of intensive instruction hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Languages include: Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sinhala, Tamil, Telugu, Tibetan, and Urdu. Now entering its sixth year of operations, SASLI is accepting student applications for Summer 2008, (dates are June16th through August 8th).

Costs: The program fee for the eight week session (equivalent of two semesters or one academic year of language acquisition) is $2900 for the program fee and an additional $200.00 for University of Wisconsin assessment fee, for a total of $3,100. This does not include transportation costs to Madison, living expenses, and textbooks.

Department of Education Title VI National Resource Centers for the Study of South Asia and the South Asia Language Resource Center and an affiliate organization of the Association for Asian Studies.

Credits: Course credit is transferable to the student’s home institution where applicable.

Funding: Graduate students are encouraged to apply for a SASLI FLAS fellowships; graduate students may also hold FLAS fellowships from their home institutions.
