The string quartet, which as been in residence at Chicago since 1998, was honored for its Naxos recording of the Elliott Carter String Quartets Nos. 1 and 5.
It is the second big award for the quartet this year: they were also named “Ensemble of the Year” by Musical America, a highly regarded professional performing arts organization.
The next chance to see the Grammy-winners will come on April 19. They will be performing on the University of Chicago campus with saxophonist Erik Ronmark. For more information, visit The University of Chicago Presents.
