The University of Chicago is located on the southside of Chicago, in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the coast of Lake Michigan, about 15 minutes by car or bus from downtown Chicago. It is served by two airports: O’Hare International (ORD) and Midway (MDW). Midway is much closer and cheaper, but only has domestic flights. Taxi fares from Midway to campus run about $20-$30 (not including the usual 15% tip) and the trip should take about 20 minutes; from O’Hare fares are typically $45-$65, and the trip will be an hour to an hour and a half. Public transport is plentiful: Midway airport is served by busses (take the #55 from Midway airport to Hyde Park), and O’Hare by the Blue Line (the “L”-train; CTA) to downtown. You are also free to stay at one of the many downtown hotels; see https://visit.uchicago.edu/accommodations.shtml for more general information on visiting the campus and other hotels.
