For those of you who like bikes, beer, or both (that’s pretty much everyone, right?) and are already in Chicago (that’s probably just a few of you), here’s a great free event going on this weekend. New Belgium Brewing Company’s Tour de Fat is coming to Logan Square on Saturday the 11th, and the entertainment includes a ridiculous bike parade, music, the amazing mini-bike dance team The Sprockettes (who, like me, come from Portland, OR). Also, someone’s going to trade their car for a bike. This is, as they say on their website, “a Bicycle Festival with beer, not the other way around.”
Things to keep in mind: the fun starts at 10AM, and you’ll probably want to get there early(ish). The event space is limited and tends to fill up. The entertainment is free, but the beer is not. It’s cheap, though, for anyone 21 and over, and the proceeds from the event all go to raise money for bicycle and environmental charities. Read more on New Belgium’s website.
