I am interested in Computational Linguistics / Natural Language Processing. The focus on my research is on meaning and I attempt to understand the role of semantics and pragmatics in supporting intelligent inference and use this understanding to develop systems that learn and make intelligent inferences in complex domains.
The target areas of application have been Information Extraction and Retrieval, Question Answering, Text Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Machine Translation. More recently I added Language Evolution, Computer Vision, and Bioinformatics.

Fields of interest: Data Mining/Machine Learning, Text Analysis , Imaging/Visualization, Information Retrieval, Computational Linguistics, Semantic Search
