Ralph Shapey catapulted Chicago to prominence on the international new music scene as a composer and founder of the Contemporary Chamber Players of the University of Chicago. In this dedication to him, brilliant violinist Miranda Cuckson and an all-star ensemble offer a riveting experience of Shapey’s music.
“the American composer Ralph Shapey…[was] a towering master, a composer of flinty, astringent and utterly original works.” (New York Times)
“[Shapey’s] authentic music has arresting qualities, including pugnacious rhythmic vitality and vibrant humor.” (New York Times)
