Date: Monday, November 7, 2011
Time: 2:30 PM
Where: CSL – 2nd Fl. Cobb – C 201
The CSL will host a presentation by Francois Tochon of the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on the subject of the “Deep Approach” to language teaching and learning, that has been applied, notably, to Turkish pedagogy. This approach has some things in common with some of the pedagogical models used by language programs here at the University of Chicago. A copy of one of the “Deep Approach to Turkish Teaching and Learning” newsletters and Professor Tochon’s proposal for a lecture “Why would we need a new approach to modern languages’ teaching” is available at the CSL (please contact Michael Berger at mb35@uchicago.edu if you would like copies).
Space is limited, so please RSVP–to languages@uchicago.edu–if you plan to attend.
A reception will follow the presentation.
