Intensive Polish at Loyola, Summer 2012

The Polish Studies Program at Loyola University Chicago, through generous support by American Council of Learned Societies, is pleased to announce that it will be offering Intensive Elementary Polish for Research Purposes in Summer 2012. The course is designed for students (graduate and undergraduate) specializing in a host of disciplines in which Poland and/ or Polish plays a part. Intensive Elementary Polish is designed to enable students to acquire a functional reading and speaking knowledge of the language while introducing them to Polish Culture. The course will utilize a host of media catered to the academic interests of the students. Loyola University Chicago is ideally located on the north shore of Lake Michigan and is a very strong presence in Chicago’s large Polish Community.

Tuition for the course is waived for graduate students specializing in Central/ Eastern European Studies. There are no prerequisites for this course. It assumes no prior knowledge of the Polish language. Class size is limited and admission is competitive. Class meets 5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, for total of 90 contact hours. Students will receive 6 credits upon successful completion of the course.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian at Lawrence University

Lawrence University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian in the Lawrence Postdoctoral Fellows Program for a two-year appointment beginning September 2012. Pending administrative approval, the position will become tenure-track in September 2014, and the Visiting Assistant Professor would become a candidate for tenure track status. The successful applicant should demonstrate excellence in teaching, evidence of research promise, native or near-native fluency in both Russian and English, and PhD in hand by August 2012. Scholarship by Polish Language School GLOSSA

The goal of awarding a scholarship funded by Polish Language School GLOSSA is to popularize the broad scope of Polish culture and language. In addition, it will give students an opportunity to participate in the Summer School of Polish Language and Culture, and thereby allow them to improve their language skills and become more familiar with Polish culture and history.

The contest is an annual event announced in the fall of each academic year. It debuted in 2006 and for the first three years it was organized exclusively for students and graduates of higher education institutions. Due to its high popularity and participation among those interested in Polish culture and language, Polish Language School GLOSSA has decided to open the contest to all interested in Poland (ages 16 and older). International Business and Summer Law Program

The Catholic University of America is pleased to announce the 2012 International Business and Trade Summer Law Program Kraków, Poland, our 21st year! The program this summer runs from June 18 – July 28, 2012. Applications now being accepted.

Students may earn 5-8 credits in the ABA-approved summer law program, taking classes at Jagiellonian University with Polish law students and living with Polish and European students in historic Kraków.

This is a wonderful opportunity for law students to spend 6 weeks in Poland while earning credits.
