Lab Manager Position, Harvard University

The Polinsky Language Sciences Lab at Harvard University ( invites applications for a part-time position of Lab Manager. PLSL, under the supervision of Prof. Maria Polinsky of Harvard Linguistics (, is an inclusive and inspiring environment for researchers in the language sciences at Harvard and beyond. Areas of research include syntactic and semantic processing, with a unique focus on the psycholinguistic investigation of understudied languages, including Mayan, Caucasian and Austronesian languages as well as heritage languages.

Duties include preparation of experimental materials, scripting and running experiments in the lab and online, preparing experimental data for analysis, visualizing data, and performing statistical analysis. The individual will also be responsible for maintaining the lab website and wiki, recruiting and scheduling experimental subjects as well as managing of funds for subject compensation and equipment maintenance.

The successful applicant will have strong familiarity with R, HTML (ideally also JavaScript), and MATLAB (specifically Psychtoolbox). Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Cognitive Science or Linguistics. Applicants should highlight experience with behavioral methods and demonstrate a keen interest in the study of human language processing. Applicants must be local or relocate to the Boston area.

This is a one year appointment from date of hire with possibility of extension for future years pending funding.
