  • Chicago linguists at TAL 5

    Katie Franich will be presenting “Perception of Tonal Contours in Medumba” at the Tonal Aspects of Language to be held at the University of Buffalo on May 24-27.  Also presenting there is James Kirby (PhD 2013), who is talking about “Tone- melody correspondence in Vietnamese popular song” with his co-author, Bob Ladd.

  • Bowman to NYU

    Congratulations to Sam Bowman (BA/MA ’11), who shares with us the wonderful news that he’ll be starting as an assistant professor this fall at NYU in the Department of Linguistics and the Center for Data Science. Way to go, Sam!

  • Waldon receives Fulbright to ZAS

    Congratulations to Brandon Waldon (BA ’15), who has been awarded a Fulbright fellowship to work with Dr. Stephanie Solt at the ZAS on formal semantic models of scale-dependent expressions.

  • Grenoble named as Hale Professor for 2017 Linguistic Summer Institute

    Congratulations to Lenore Grenoble, who has been chosen to be next Hale Professor at the 2017 Linguistic Summer Institute, to be held at the University of Kentucky from July 5 to August 1!
