Georgia Power continues renewable expansion, including solar via PV Magazine

Georgia has leapt into the PV gigawatt club, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). In the SEIA state profile, the Peach State has 1,500 MW installed, over 1,000 in 2016 alone, placing it 9th among states overall and 3rd for 2016.

More is expected with the enactment of Georgia Power’s Commercial and Industrial Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI). REDI calls for 1,200 MW of of renewable energy systems to be installed by 2021. This initiative is a centerpiece of the utility looking to add 1,600 MW of solar and other renewable energy into their Integrated Resource Plan. REDI by Georgia Power was formally announced in 2015, filed in 2016, with negotiations between the utility, regulator and interested parties completed by August 2017.
