Petition to BLOCK Trump’s nuclear weapons powers ‘reaches HALF A MILLION’ via Express

A PETITION to limit President Donald Trump’s power to launch nuclear weapons has reached nearly half-a-million signatures, Democrat lawmakers have claimed.

The petition supports a bill which is currently before Congress which calls for President Trump to be denied the authority to fire nuclear weapons without a declaration of war from Capitol Hill. 

The Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons Act comes as international tensions continue to escalate with threats of nuclear activity from North Korea.

He added that the signatures on the petition “are a reflection of concern across our country of the use of nuclear weapons by the President.”

Mr Markey also claimed the act was “absolutely critical during the Trump administration” as hinted at situations in North Korea and Russia.

The senator for Massachusetts added: “As long as President Trump has a Twitter account, we need a nuclear no-first-use policy for the United States of America.”
