Radiation emergency responders to practice in Richland, Pasco via Tri-City Herald

Participants in a regional exercise to practice responding to releases of radiological materials may be spotted March 26 in north Richland and Pasco.

They will be measuring background radiation levels in areas east of the 240 Bypass Highway in Richland to as far east as Road 68 in Pasco, according to Hanford’s Mission Support Alliance.

About 20 people are expected to collect soil, water and plant samples; set up air monitoring stations and measure for radiation during the exercise.

Washington and the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Radiological Assistance Programs field monitoring teams will work with participants from four western states.
