“Atomic Mom” is a thoughtful and unfortunately timely look at the impact of atomic radiation. Art imitating life is often surprising, interesting and sometimes curious, but life repeating history is alarming, such is the case in “Atomic Mom.”

In “Atomic Mom” filmmaker M.T. Silvia shares the story of her mother, Pauline Silvia. Pauline was a girl when the US dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. By the 1950’s Pauline was an intelligent, ambitious and successful scientist; a member of a top secret team of scientists who did radiation research for the Atomic Energy Commission both here in San Francisco and Nevada. In short, Pauline researched the medical effects of nuclear weapons.
