Navigating Graduate School

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Social Sciences 302, 12-1 pm (note room change)

Featuring John Levi Martin, Mario Small, & Kristen Schilt

This year, the Social Theory and Evidence workshop is dedicating two meetings a quarter to discussions about how to have a career in sociology. In our first session, the panel will talk for a few minutes about their experiences navigating graduate school. And then, it is an open forum for general questions about issues such as how to organize your work effectively, how to develop relationships with faculty, and how to time your graduate career. You may submit questions in advance to Laura Goodrich (lgoodrich@uchicago.edu) and Chris Takacs (ctakacs@uchicago.edu). We strongly encourage all first and second year sociology students to attend, though it should be useful for older students too!

NOTE: This is a brown bag workshop event, so please bring your own lunch.
