The New Media Workshop

Bruce Jenkins, Dean of Undergraduate Students at the Art Institute of Chicago, and former Cavell Curator of the Harvard Film Archive.

 

Professor Jenkins will discuss the works of Hollis Frampton in relationship to digital culture.

Please join the New Media Workshop for a discussion of some works by the French philosopher Jacques Rancière, led by  

Michelle Menzies, Ph.D. Student in the Department of English Language & Literature.

For this meeting we will be reading the following texts:

Jacques Rancière, “Distribution of the Sensible,” in The Politics of Aesthetics (London: Continuum, 2006): 9-45;

Jacques Rancière, The Future of the Image, (London: Verso, 2007): 1-31. 

Optional: Excerpts from Artforum (March, 2007), featuring an interview with Jacques Rancière.
