Introduction

September 16th, 2009

The Modern Russian and European Studies workshop meets every other Tuesday afternoon throughout the school year. We read and discuss drafts of dissertation chapters by U Chicago students, as well as papers by outside scholars in the fields of modern Russian and European history.

In the fall of 2009 we will meet in the John Hope Franklin Room of the Social Sciences building (224) from 4:30-6pm. Papers will be pre-circulated several days before the workshop on Chalk. If you do not have access to Chalk, or for other inquiries, please e-mail Rachel Applebaum at rapple@uchicago.edu

The faculty coordinators for the workshop for 2009-10 are Leora Auslander, Michael Geyer and Sheila Fitzpatrick.

Our first workshop for the year will be on October 6. Julia Fein will be presenting a chapter of her dissertation.
