2009–2010 Schedule

All meetings, unless otherwise noted, take place in Classics 21, from 4:30–6:00. Please note the change in room location.

For papers that are not distributed in advance, the workshop typically consists of a 45-minute presentation, followed by a 45-minute question-and-answer session. For precirculated papers, the presentation is abbreviated in order to leave more time for discussion.

10/9 Stephen Menn (McGill University) will present a paper entitled “Plato and Paradox” from 3.00-4.30PM in Harper 130  as part of the University’s celebration of its 500th convocation.

10/21 Thomas Keith (University of Chicago, Classics) will present a paper entitled “Defining the ‘Philosopher in Politics’ in Roman Greece: The Lycurgan Test-Case”. To become more familiar with the material he will be covering, Thomas suggests that people read the following passages:
