THATCamp Chicago debriefing at UIUC Library

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

The University of Illinois Library’s Scholarly Commons (http://www.library.illinois.edu/sc/) will be sponsoring a THATCamp Chicago debriefing/forum in the coming week at the University of Illinois Library. At the forum, we’ll discuss the ideas, skills, and experiences that campers gained from THATCamp Chicago.  Everyone is welcome to attend, but all University of Illinois campers and others in the Champaign-Urbana area (or those willing to make the trek down here) are particularly encouraged to come.

If you’re interested getting more details (the date and time are still TBD) or have questions, please contact Harriett Green at green19@illinois.edu.

What to bring to THATCamp

Friday, November 19th, 2010

Hopefully it’s not too late, but we’ve had a few questions about what to bring…

Your ideas, your laptop/mobile computing device (+vga display adapter if you’re a mac user), and yourself! Flash drives and internet access will be provided, but we will not be in computer labs.

Check out the main THATCamp FAQ here.
(Please note that we are not requesting donations from THATCamp Chicago participants, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors.)

See you at 9am tomorrow!

THATCamp Chicago organizers will finalize the Bootcamp schedule on November 4th. In the meantime, Jim Brown has compiled THATCampers’ suggestions for Bootcamp sessions. 3D Modeling
Geographic Information Systems
Processing
Open Standards (HTML5 and CSS3)
Git
Digital History/Text mining
Basic HTML, CSS, or WordPress template hacking
XTF
XML Markup

ps Bootcamp fellowship applicants should receive notification by the end of this week from THATCamp Coordinator Amanda French.
