Full-Time Lecturer in Hindi/Urdu Language and Literature

Emory University, the Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies announces a full-time lecture-track position for a Lecturer of Hindi/Urdu Language/Literature, effective Fall 2008. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Applicant is expected to teach Hindi and Urdu courses at all levels, introduce up-to-date and innovative pedagogy, and exhibit evidence of ongoing intellectual engagement in literatures, history, and cultures of South Asia. Program-building experience and familiarity with digital teaching materials highly desired.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Hindi/Urdu language or related field; extensive language teaching experience at the university level; ability to teach Perso-Arabic and Devanagari scripts; experience in curriculum development; and native or near-native competence in Hindi, Urdu and English.
