A tradition in Hyde Park since 1930, the 2010 performance of Handel’s Messiah will feature soloists Kimberly Jones (soprano), Wilbur Pauley (bass-baritone), Lon Ellenberger (countertenor), and Matthew Dean (tenor) to perform the beloved collection of compassionate arias and lively choruses in the magnificent setting of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. Ms. Jones is an alum of the Ryan Opera Center and sings the National Anthem for the Chicago Bulls. Mr. Pauley’s voice can be heard on many Disney soundtracks, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Mr. Ellenberger has appeared in the role of the “Spirit” in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with the Chicago Opera and returns for another year as the lead countertenor in UChicago’s Messiah. Mr. Dean is the founding member of Golosa Russian Choir, and the program director for Sounds of Faith initiative and documentaries.
