Two alumni honored by National Book Critics Circle

The University of Chicago Magazine reports that two Chicago alums were honored by the National Book Critics Circle.

A Reader's History from Aesop to Harry Potter

Seth Lerer, PhD’81 and now dean of arts and humanities at the University of California, San Diego, won the 2008 National Book Critics Circle award in criticism for Children’s Literature: A Reader’s History from Aesop to Harry Potter (University of Chicago Press). (Read an excerpt here.)

Devin Johnston, AM’94, PhD’99, and now a St. Louis University English professor, was a finalist for his poetry collection Sources (Turtle Point Press).
