Winter might be cold, but it can still be lots of fun! Take, for instance, the ice skating rink on the Midway, just below 59th street! Try the rink out for free this Friday, January 8 2010. Free skating lasts from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm, so bring a thermos of hot cocoa and a friend or two, and hit the ice. Skates can be rented for $3 as a U of C student.

I used to love skating on the midway when I was a student at the U of C. Thanks for posting this!
Skating is actually free whenever the rink is open– you only ever have to pay for the skate rental. So if you have your own skates, just check the hours and head over whenever. Same is true of almost all the other ice rinks managed by the parks district. Their website has more details: http://www.cpdit01.com/resources/ice_rinks/?action=rinks
We would like to thank you again for the beautiful ideas you gave Jesse when preparing a post-graduate research and, most importantly, pertaining to providing all of the ideas in one blog post. In case we had known of your web site a year ago, we’d have been rescued from the unwanted measures we were participating in. Thanks to you.
