If you’re already in Chicago and itching to get on your bike and explore your new home, why not leave Hyde Park this weekend? The Chicago Reader has listings for a couple of free bike tours this weekend, and they both look like they’d be lots of fun. Hyde Park may feel new and exciting right now, but this is an ideal time to explore the rest of the city, because you’re not immersed in school yet, and because even if it’s not quite bright and summery out today, it’s not -11 degrees, either. So even if you’re not up for all that biking, or you just can’t stand guided tours, do take some time to expand your mental map of Chicago.
