Post-doc Paul Steinbeck to be assistant professor at Syracuse University

Dear friends:

Our theory postdoc and jazz man Paul Steinbeck sent me this note to share with the whole Department:

“I have accepted a tenure-track position at Syracuse University,
where I’ll be an assistant professor of musicology
in the Department of African American Studies. Special thanks
are due to…

* Mwata Bowden, Thomas Christensen, Martha Feldman, Berthold
Hoeckner, Bob Kendrick, and Larry Zbikowski, for educating me
as an undergraduate

* Melvin Butler, Travis Jackson, and Steve Rings, for
supporting my research (and for making the 3rd floor too much
fun)

* Hyunree Cho, Jonathan De Souza, Marcy Pierson, Pete Smucker,
for being truly excellent TAs

* Melanie Cloghessy, James Hillis, Kathy Holmes, Scott
Landvatter, and Mark Winston for numerous productivity boosts

* Kathy again, for candy

* Will Faber and August Sheehy, for trouble-shooting my job
talk

* everyone else, for being so friendly and collegial during
the past two years

Thanks in advance for sending this message to the Music
Department list–

Paul Steinbeck”

OUR HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS TO PAUL AND THANKS FOR HIS WONDERFUL CONTRIBUTIONS HERE–

Martha
