A thorough overview of transportation options to and from campus can be found on the Chicago Life website.

By Air

If you are arriving at Midway or O’Hare airports, you will most likely want to take a cab to your hotel. Regulated cab queues are located outside the terminals at both airports; follow the signs. Ignore cab touts in the interior of the airport.

The 55th/Garfield bus from Midway to Hyde Park is very convenient and runs frequently. It takes around 45 minutes to reach the campus area. Some other options can be found here.

If you are not staying in the campus area and want to take public transportation to your accommodations, other routes can be calculated with this handy tool: CTA Trip Planner.

By Car

Driving directions can be generated from Google Maps and are available from various landmarks here.

Parking in Hyde Park can be rather tight, although if you are willing do some searching and to walk 10 minutes or so, you should be able to find parking in the campus environs or to the north.

The University of Chicago operates several parking garages, as indicated on this map. The largest is located at 55th and Ellis Ave, and offers FREE parking after 4pm on weekdays and all weekend, and guest parking for a fee at all other times.

Around the Neighborhood

Hyde Park is eminently walkable. Other transportation options are enumerated here, and some local attractions are listed here.

Around the City

Cabs can often be hailed from the street downtown and in nightlife areas, but are less frequently seen in Hyde Park. Plan on phoning ahead. You can call Yellow Cab at 773-907-0909 or Dart Cab at 773-866-9200.
