As Director of MIT’s HyperStudio – Lab for Digital Humanities I am interested in exploring innovative approaches to research and education in Digital Humanities across a wide range of humanistic fields with special interests in: text and data visualization, collaborative research and teaching tools, and the integration of user-created content into existing digital archives.

I’ve long been interested in crossover projects between computing and the humanities, and have taught a variety of courses related to themes of “computer programming as a liberal art.” I’m currently working on a monograph on Aristotle’s Poetics as a productive science that may someday have implications for thinking about artifactual design. Brenda Laurel’s Computers as Theater would be in a related domain space.
