Balkan Dance Workshop this Sunday

1:30-2:30 – dance workshop – West Lounge
2:30-4:30 – ensemble rehearsal – West Lounge

The event in more detail:
12-1:20 pm – Third Floor Theater, Lecture on Balkan Rhythms
John Kuo, the leader of Chicago based group Balkanski igri, will
explain the basic dance rhythms in the Balkans. He brings
hand-made instruments from the region, plays music and videos to
demonstrate. There will be prizes for those who can identify the
rhythms by the end of the session. Free and open to the public.

1:30-2:30 pm – Ida Noyes West Lounge, Workshop
The ensemble will teach us the steps of some basic dances. Free
and open to the public.

2:30-4:30 pm – Ida Noyes West Lounge, ensemble rehearsal
We are welcome to stay and watch the ensemble rehearse for a
performance.
